Barcelona: HIGHLIGHTS

My last Gaudi stop was at La Pedrera the building...too large to photograph the exterior...so I snapped the model instead

The apartment built for a wealthy couple in the early 1900's is still in tact and goes for about 8 stories

most interesting were the Catenary arches...almost maze like

and the rooftop of odd sculptures...

magic in the still night sky

Barcelona: HIGHLIGHTS

On my second to last day I made my way through la Boqueria an outdoor covered market full of fresh meat, fruit, cheese, chocolate, jams all delights for the eyes...and to taste...the Mango juice was insane!!

Went to the Contemporary Museum where I happened upon one of the most fantastic shows of my life..."add to and return" -Ray Johnson is considered the father of "mail art" he was a contemporary of Warhol and made his living doing commercial work alongside other notable artist...

but the real beauty of his vast collection of work was in the letters and collages he sent to friends whom he often asked to add something to the pieces and return them to him...

This is the largest showing of his work to date since his death in 1995 when massive quantities of these letters/collages were found in his home stacked and ordered neatly around his estate

If your in Barcelona this show runs until Oct 2010...hmmm maybe I'll go back for another bday trip...it was just that good...
