Landed at JFK on Dec 7...on Dec 8 I took a bus down to DC to visit my family.

When planning this trip I wanted to return to surprise my dad for his birthday...I kept it a secret from everyone until just before I came...my mom bought a cake and I walked into my Dad's home office with a single lit candle singing "happy birthday". He was so shocked all he could do was stare...speechless. I was a bit teary...my Dad is absolutely the love of my life so to do something so special and see him so happy was a gift I hadn't known I would receive. He even pinched me to make sure I was real. SURPRISE, SURPRISE as my Grandma always says. He said it was the surprise of his life.

While I was home I finally got to meet my best friends son...we treated him to McDonalds and he tried to throw up the West coast sign...2 is maybe too young to get it right...but we'll keep working on it tres.

My godson! I adore this kid...so sad we don't live in the same city...he would be terribly spoiled by me...but whenever I do see him...its seamless...like I'm always around

Akilah is my oldest friend in life...our parents lived in the same housing project when we were babies...actually I wasn't even born yet but it still counts right???

Later I took a trip to VA to visit my Grandparents and make one last sojourn to conclude this amazing experience.
